Module 1

Hi All
My name is Manitha

I have embarked upon my journey into the the world of technology. I was familiar with the use of basic tools for internet usage( which I learnt from video 1 and 2 is the world of web 1.0) . I now look forward to fully emerging myself into web 2.0. I think that the focus on user generated content is an excellent tool for teaching and learning.Various web based applications can be used to share teaching content with other teachers, parents and students. The concept of multiple people working on the same topic makes teaching and learning very exciting and interesting.

As an ESL teacher I feel strongly that language learning is definitely moving to a completely different level( as per information in Video 4) where teachers can create online classrooms ( teacher tube, videos etc) to teach language based lessons to students.

If the outcome of module 1 was to give participants of the course an overview of "What web 2.0 is all about", the organisers of the course can be assured that the use of the brief but concise videos provided an excellent overview of web2.0 . The videos provided useful information and I liked the fact that they were not too long. Short videos focusing on specific aspects... great delivery...

I am excited about the new direction of Langauge teaching and learning that web2.0 endevours to move us into. As teachers it is good to move out of our comfort zones in order to explore new territory and at present web 2.0 is the way to go to explore new and exciting teaching and learning situations.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with iGoogle... good fun creating my own home page and uploading gadgets ( I got to play Pac-man after many years). I have not yet thought of ways of using iGoogle with students ( herein lies the challenge)

I am looking forward to the rest of the course
