I have used videos from you tube to help me refresh my memory when I had to teach senior levels of maths. The educational videos are excellent. In some videos the maths concepts were very explicitly taught and well explained to the students. Digital storytelling has made the teaching of Narratives very interesting for the students in my english class. We worked on fairy tales and it is not always easy for students from different cultures and backgrounds to grasp the messages in these stories but the use of digital story telling really made the stories come alive in the classroom. Students were able to engage in discussions about the themes and messages in fairy tales and many of the students made note of the websites to watch more stories at home.
I need to explore the possible use of pod and vod casts in more detail because if they are not well used in a lesson they can bacome more of a distraction or play- thing for some students.
I have used podcasts as listening assessments and as speaking and listening activities.
If any one has used podcasts or vodcasts as an effective resource in a lesson...share some ideas.
